Seems the Brits treated their women a lot harsher than what happened here in the states... Well, I do consider myself of sound mind, and I think it is a fair comparison. My point is, if you don't speak out then nothing is ever going to change. The reason I used that quote was because I felt it was a good example of what happens if you ignore what is going on around you. As Martin pointed out, the situation with Shell in Nigeria was a clear case of profits before people, and Nazi Germany was a case of power before people. I find it hard to believe that you have never been sufficiently outraged by anything to want to actively do something about it. Your answer to most of Martin's examples was that it "came down because of people fighting for their own freedom." Are you trying to say that it is OK to protest if it is something that directly affects you personally? And if you don't recall much violence during the suffragist movement I suggest you read this http://www.time.com/time/time100/heroes/profile/pankhurst01.html Kevin Stevens kjs at ratking.co.uk _______________________________________________ thechat mailing list thechat at lists.evolt.org http://lists.evolt.org/mailman/listinfo/thechat http://lists.evolt.org/thechatarchive/ ________________ "It's Friday.
